Yes the JACK aware versions will use anything supported by JACK (Which means 
most things supported by ALSA).
 
I would note that the SB Live is a fairly nasty card and IIRC the current 
EMU10K1 drivers do not support low latencies very well.  

Setting things up with jack is a bit fiddly on 2.6 kernels if you want 
reliable operation (It is being worked on but there is some funky interaction 
between jacks RT stuff and the new threading library - especially when QT is 
involved)! You are generally better off sticking with a 2.4 kernel (ideally 
patched with the low latency stuff). 

Ohh and put /tmp on a tmpfs partition, especially if you are using a 
journalling filesystem for the rest of your setup!
